Amina Aissa

Biography

Dr. Amina Aissa, M.D. is a psychiatrist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, University of Tunis El Manar. She earned her board certification in psychiatry in 2016 and has pursued additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Global Mental Health through the University of Washington. Dr. Aissa has been actively involved in psychiatric research since early in her career, participating in projects on immunopsychiatry, biological psychiatry, and treatment-resistant schizophrenia. She co-developed a neuropsychological assessment battery during a collaboration with Prof. Marion Leboyer’s team in France. Her recent research focuses on early detection and intervention in youth at clinical high risk for severe mental disorders. Since 2018, she has played a key role in the Clinical High Risk Program (CHiRP) in Tunisia, initially as co-investigator and currently as the program's coordinator. She has led training workshops for psychiatry residents, primary care physicians, and school health professionals, and contributed to the adaptation and validation of the Tunisian Arabic version of the Prodromal Questionnaire-Brief (PQB). Dr. Aissa also oversees neurocognitive assessments and the supervision of neuropsychologists involved in CHiRP. She is a member of the International Early Psychosis Association (IEPA), the Early Career Section of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), and the Tunisian Society of Clinical Sexology, and has been a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of Monastir.
